  • Bread Flour: 4 ¾ Cups
  • White Sugar: 3 Tablespoons
  • Salt: 1 ½ Teaspoons
  • Active Dry Yeast: 1 (Saf Instant)
  • Warm Milk: 1 cup
  • Softened Butter: 2 Tablespoons
  • Sourdough Starter: 1 ½ Cups
  • Egg: 1
  • Water: 1 Tablespoon
  • Chopped Onions: ¼ Cup


  • Take a large bowl. Add sugar, dry yeast for baking , salt and a cup of flour. Add milk and softened butter and stir it up.
  • Gradually add the rest of the flour as per the climate.
  • Knead the dough for about 8-10 minutes.
  • Place in a greased bowl, cover it up and leave for about an hour or so to rise to double its size.
  • Punch it down and let it alone for 15 more minutes to rise.
  • Place them into greased pans shaped like loaves and leave for another hour to rise.
  • Brush the loaves with egg wash and sprinkle chopped onions.
  • Bake at 190 degrees C for about 30 minutes and you are good to go.
  • Serve it with salads, gravy or soup.
