In order to reduce the number of Frenchies that end up in a rescue, it's important that people understand what they're getting into. Getting a new dog is a bit of a toss up. You don't really know what kind of a dog you're going to get. Doesn't matter if you go to the most expensive breeder or the pound, at the end of the day, personality and disposition will be unique. JoJo came from a reputable breeder. For my next dog, I will most certainly go to a rescue. With all the good animals that need a home, it doesn't make sense NOT to help. JoJo is a high energy dog, turns out. In fact, the breeder insisted that we take JoJo, because we we're young. She was correct. You need to have serious patience to harness the power of JoJo. A retired couple or a couple with children might not have been able to handle her. Luckily (knock on wood), JoJo has not had any genetic disorders and she's as healthy as it gets.
Be responsible and be willing to do what it takes OR don't get a dog.
